Lesson 1

I haven’t really been looking forward to this class as I don’t want to be an entrepreneur. My father was an entrepreneur and I always liked to listen to his visions and dreams about what he was going to do next. He was very successful at his different businesses and I learned so much from him. In fact, it was my desire to actually help my dad in his businesses that I decided to go back to school for a business management degree. Unfortunately, my father passed away last year and I wasn’t able to really help with any of the businesses he had prior to his passing. My husband, on the other hand, was able to work for him and help close things out. I don’t feel like I would be a good risk taker. I enjoy working for a company and having the benefits that go along with that. However, my husband and I did have our own company for a short while and I really enjoyed working side by side with my husband in a common and important goal of earning money for our family.

After reading the material for the week, I am excited to be able to explore my talents and my goals and try to become a better person through the process. I think it will be a great foundation for anything that I do in life and will be great material to teach and pass along to my children.

On another note that has been quite a surprise is that I used to be an employee of Steve Hitz’s company in Colorado. I enjoyed working there although I didn’t have day to day contact with him. It will be interesting to read his book.
